Greenhouse Beautiful Strawberries A favorite For the whole Summer And Fall

The strawberry Is very well suited to a very wide range of climate and temperatures. Is well adaptive to more conditions than any other temperature zoned fruit. The strawberry is really quite an adaptable plant. However growing them in the greenhouse can relieve a lot of these temperature stress points. Over the years there have been some hearty varieties developed. Some of these are rather an easy task to maintain and grow.

Growing strawberries is fairly easy, in a wide range of soil types. Of course they do better if they start out in good physical shape and are managed well. Good soil drainage will help to deter soil born diseasesGood soil drainage is a must for healthy plans. However you do need a satisfactory water or moisture supply. A good or an satisfactory soil mixture would be sand gravel and organic matter. I personally suggest you use a medium course sand, because a very course sand promotes drought. Now any type of soil that has clay of any percentage would not be suggested here because of poor drainage and other problems as well. A soil consisting of organic matter and gravel in the sand is easier to maintain and needs less water.

The roots of strawberries become injured easily if kept too moist. This lends itself to root rot, or the red stele root rot disease so the subject of moisture is an important factor for strawberries. The inside greenhouse strawberries are less likely to experience frost, but there should still be good adequate ventilation. Mild air movement or circulation is desireable in the greenhouse. Leaf diseases and fungus are much less likely where there is air circulation.

There is a great need for large quantities of sun for the strawberry. That being said you might be better served by planting your strawberries on the south or towards the south. the only way to grow these strawberries in the greenhouse inviroment is in containers, and of course they can be moved about as is necessary or wanted depending on the need of the gardener.

Soil preparation is a very important aspect of strawberry gardening. Organic matter is needed in large quantities. stable manure or an organic compost or a combination. A good fertilizer made for this application is desirable also. chemical weed killers are used by some growers, however this is not really necessary in the greenhouse setting.

The more the berries are picked the more they produce. They also are very perishable and picking them regularly helps to deter perishability. Handle yopur berries carefully to prevent bruising. Of course you would want to wash and dry the strawberries as soon as possible after picking your crop. Most anything to do with greenhouse growing is just a matter of common sense. I only hope you get as much enjoyment from your green house as i have from mine.
